Charity shop royal cards to be sold for charity
Old Christmas cards signed by the late Queen Mother has been discovered in a bag of donations to an Edinburgh charity shop.
The 19 cards were discovered when sorting through donations in the Bethany charity's Morningside Road shop last Wednesday, the cards were discovered at the bottom of a bag. The cards were written to a "Mr and Mrs Wilson" and were signed "From Elizabeth". They also carried a picture of the Queen Mother and a festive greeting. The oldest one was sent in 1956, with the most recent card dating back to 2000.
The cards will go up for sale at Edinburgh-based auctioneers Lyon and Turnbull on February 4 next year.
It is hoped that the cards will fetch up to £1,000 for the homelessness charity when they go under the hammer at auction next year.
