Sir Bobby Robson’s charity helped by Damien Hirst
World famous artist Damien Hirst has leant his support to Sir Bobby Robson's cancer charity.
The british Hirst has donated one of his "spin-circle" paintings, which is expected to raise more than £10,000. The former England manager was desribed by the artist as an inspiration to so many, and a legend
His charity was set up in 2008 and has already raised £1m for a new medical research centre at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle. The circular painting will be displayed at the Lazarides Gallery on Newcastle's Quayside and prospective buyers are invited to register their interest with the gallery. It will be handed over by the 75-year-old former England and Newcastle United boss, from County Durham.
