Pop star David Gilmour Blames Protesters For Charity Failure
Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has hit out at protesters campaigning against the launch of his homeless housing charity, blaming local residents for the project's failure.
The 61-year-old had sold his west London home for £3.7 million ($7.2 million U.S) in order to fund Urban Village, which aimed to create affordable apartments for homeless people in London.
But the rocker's plans have been thwarted by locals opposed to the opening of a site.
He says, "Obviously this is a disappointment but I am determined to make a success of the Urban Village project here in London and to continue to work with (U.K. homelessness charity) Crisis to bring real change to the lives of homeless people."
