Charity half-marathon behind bars
The four prisoners ran 13 miles inside Magilligan Prison Northern Ireland, the half marathon raised more than £2,000 for charity
One prisoner raised money for the Darren McClelland Appeal Fund, to help a paralysed boy from Londonderry. A second prisoner chose the Shine a Light Children's Charity, which gave help to his girlfriend's cousin who died from leukaemia three years ago.
The other two prisoners raised money for MacMillan Cancer Relief by taking part in the 13 mile run. The prisoners, who suggested the idea themselves, run 101 laps round the prison's running track to make the half-mile mark.
Billy MCCrory, a voluntary organiser from Shine a Light Children's Charity, went to Magilligan to adjudicate at the run.
"The guys who did it seemed really up-beat to have completed it, and done something constructive,"he said. "Our runner said he felt it was about time that he put something back into society."
