Worthing Festival backs charity helping homeless

Family breakdown, job loss or mental health issues are just some of the reasons that can lead to someone finding themself homeless. But when a person's life takes a turn for the worst and they are forced to live on the street, there is a charity they can turn to.

Worthing Churches Homeless Projects (WCHP) works to house homeless people, as well as providing them with medical care and counselling.

And to help its work in the town, it has been selected as one of the two charities to receive the proceeds from this year's Worthing Festival.

Sue Stevens, PR and fund raising manager, said: "There is a stigma attached to being homeless and lots of the people we meet have encountered abuse and feel very isolated.

"We show them there is somebody who cares and there is somebody they can talk to."

The other Worthing charity to receive money from the summer festival, run by the Worthing Lions and supported by the Worthing Herald and Splash FM, is Guild Care.
